I remember a tale, I remember it well, brother One and brother Two.
One would study all night, Two would find a strobe light, see if he could drink himself blue.
One would graduate, start to work, find a beautiful wife, and make something of his own.
All the while, Two would
head back home for a little while, than a longer while, then forever, while his
heart grew heavy with loneliness,
and he dropped to death as he dropped his life.
So
I’ll never move back home,
I’ll never waste my life,
but, oh,
my memory does go,
I didn’t tell it right.
No, no, I remember it now, I forgot somehow, brother Two, he was alright.
He cooked for mom and dad every night, made his bed, went to work, turned the lights off when he left the house.
Two was happy at home, while One was feeling alone all those long and studious nights,
and as his work picked up,
One could never find time for family, and he died in his office chair when his
head fell off from thinking too much…. I think that’s how it
goes, so
I’ll never leave my home,
I’ll never waste my life,
but, oh,
my memory does go,
I didn’t tell it right.
